Homelessness & Poverty

This is an immensely powerful and moving blog about personal experience with homelessness and shows the illness in our societies that allow these things to happen every day. Read it, and take steps to change it. Tell people. Share. Make them realize that allowing homelessness and the attitudes that enable it to continue is an evil and a sickness in the soul of our society that needs to be healed. That can only start with you and me.

There’s an interesting conversation going on over on Amanda Palmer’s blog about the difference between asking and begging. They’re talking about it from the perspective of the relationship between artists and fans, crowd funding vs labels and agents, which interests me a great deal as an artist, but I’m also interested in the ideas as a person who’s been homeless.

Homelessness is one of the most screwed up, misunderstood, pervasive mess of a thing in our world. It’s a monster we don’t really even begin to understand. It’s something I’m wrestling with as I try to make life decisions about housing. It’s changed me in ways I’m still coming to terms with. I’ve never slept rough but I’ve run from violence. First Rambling bit of Blather

Well I’ve tried to start blogs before, but hopefully I won’t fall-behind on this one as I have others.

We’ll see. For all the accounts I have floating about the internet with random thoughts jotted and eventually abandoned in a general fizzling of enthusiasm for it, I’m thinking of myself at this point as Ms. Fizzle-ishous, Princess of Internet apathy!

This blog will be an attempt to end that trend. I have so many thoughts that I find very interesting, and am narcissist enough to think others might as well. Who knows I suppose. Perhaps integrating with my Twitter will help keep me motivated? We shall see.
